About the event

This is the third of a 3-part dinner series (Sept., Oct., and Nov.) carefully crafted around a thoughtful discussion of important writings on food justice, farming, and community. As is our custom, this conversation will be shared around a table laden with good local food from neighboring farmers.

On the evening of November 17, we are glad to have back with us Rev. Dr. Yvette Blair-Lavallais. Yvette is a food justice scholar and will be presenting on her book Scrimpin' and Scrapin': The Hardships and Hustle of Women and Food Insecurity in Texas. Listen to Rev. Dr. Y explain the term "scrimpin' and scrapin'." This book calls for a holy wrestling that seeks to find solutions that transform the experiences of women in Texas from barely getting by to being food secure. As always, we will sprinkle the evening with some live music provided by our friends at The Gar Hole.

Just like our summer series, this will be an informal and casual evening. If all you can bring is your appetite, a chef-prepared meal awaits but feel free to bring your own favorite beverage (alcoholic or otherwise) or any side dishes to share. - What a great evening this should be. See you on the farm!
